Support Secure Stakes: Paid Subscriptions Are Coming
Invest in the Future of Sports Security and Sports Gambling Analysis
I wanted to let you, my loyal subscribers, know that starting on August 4th, Secure Stakes will move to a paid subscriber model. I didn’t make this decision lightly and some of my rationale is below.
I started this newsletter almost four months ago, not quite sure how it was going to be received. I write on a pretty niche topic, and I thought there was a small slice of people who might be interested. I wanted to write and see how it would go without having to rely on traditional media outlets for my analysis of what I see as a growing risk area for an important part of our society—sports.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised that nearly 200 people have subscribed in addition to countless other readers. My subscribers are business executives, security experts, lawyers, journalists, academics and others at the top of their fields.
I started with a free newsletter to illustrate the value of my writing and show a consistent product. I received helpful feedback from many of you about what you are looking for, and I heard from several in the sports, gaming, and security industries that my writing is making a difference in how people think about these risks. Now that I’ve developed a proof of concept for my idea, it is time for me to put some of that content behind a paid subscriber wall.
For me to continue my writing, analysis, and outreach to experts in this industry and related fields, I need to introduce a paid model for my product. Think of it as an investment in the security of the sporting events we all enjoy.
All subscribers will continue to receive my Weekly News Desk posts. Paid subscribers will have access to my original in depth analysis and commentary, and I am working to develop other interesting offerings for paid subscribers that I’m not ready to unveil yet—but I think they will be useful and unique. Additionally, for any professors or college students who subscribe, there are other incentives I can offer including Office Hours style interactions with students. I think it is important to raise awareness of these risks for the next generation of the workforce.
I hope that Secure Stakes can continue to be a resource for people in the sports and security communities and make for a safer sport ecosystem for fans, athletes, teams, leagues, and other stakeholders.
